Fresh Packed Live Jerusalem Artichoke Tubers (Helianthus tuberosus)
Jerusalem Artichokes (Helianthus tuberosus), also known as Sunchokes, are root vegetables that are members of the sunflower family. This hardy and edible perennial vegetable is native to eastern North America, where Native Americans cultivated it as a root crop before the Europeans arrived on the continent.
These tubers will come having been pre-sprouted which will give them a nice head start when it comes to planting them. Each tuber will have a few roots and at least one small sprout emerging when shipped. Some of the roots may darken and can appear black upon arrival; they will not all look like that but it is normal for a few of the roots to have darkened during shipment.
It is extremely important not to leave these pre-sprouted tubers in the open air after arrival. Keep them sealed in the bag they arrive in until you are ready to plant them (and plant them as soon as possible since they will not last forever sealed in a bag).
